feedback, critique, more exposure. this all applies especially when the icons have already been sold to a website or company, or are for sale - people would see the deviation and then visit the artist's personal website to buy the icons

This section is called dock icons, not website icons or icons for sale. People don't come to this section to buy some damn digital images ffs.

the artists are showing their work, and they reserve the right to share pngs and such if they want to.

dock icons can be for sale or for websites. the section isn't called "downloadable dock icons" and the mac, windows, and other icon format galleries don't have the "downloadable" prefix.

there's no need to get upset when icons aren't for download. big deal.

If they're for websites then they aren't dock icons. And that's exactly what the section should be called.

getting upset just because they're not for download is immature. if you think it should be called downloadable dock icons, take it up with the deviantart staff.

you look like a "little" jealous, ignorant idiot when you call names because you apparently don't have the same skill or ability to create icons as someone like ~taytel. deviantart is a place for artists to showcase their work. if something is not for release, then so be it. they don't have to give everything away to greedy users who take it for granted and then complain when they don't get free icons and such.
